Eligibility Criteria For The SBI PO Exam
Although many people wish to get the SBI PO job, not everyone can apply for the exam. The eligibility criteria that need to be met includes:
- The candidate must have Indian citizenship.
- The candidate must be a graduate and have a recognised degree from a recognised university.
- The candidate should not be less than 21 years of age. On the other hand, she or he must not be older than 30 years of age either.
However, certain age relaxations are provided to uplift people from lower castes. In addition to this, certain relaxations are also provided for people who have been negatively impacted in the past due to some reasons. For Ex-Servicemen, people affected by the 1984 riots, regular employees of the Union Carbide Factory of Bhopal retrenched from service (Applicable to Madhya Pradesh state only), and people belonging to the SC or ST category, the relaxation provided is 5 years. For the Non-creamy layer of the OBC category, the relaxation given is 3 years while for persons with disabilities (PWBD), the relaxation in the upper age limit is 10 years.
Steps To Apply For SBI PO
In case you have made up your mind to sit for the SBI PO exam, you should be aware of the process involved in filling up the application form. The application form for the SBI PO exam is available on SBI’s official website and can only be filled online and submitted.
Step 1: SBI PO Registration
- Go to SBI’s official website.
- Click the ‘New Registration’ tab that is being shown to you on the homepage of SBI Career.
- Enter your details. You will be asked to fill in your name, phone number, email id, and other relevant information.
- Once you have successfully registered, a provisional registration number and password will be generated and sent to your phone number and email ID.
Step 2: Upload Photo and Signature
- After your basic registration is complete, you will be asked to upload several documents. Keep your scanned photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression and educational mark sheets handy. Candidates will now need to upload their photograph, signature, and left thumb impression onto the portal.
- Read the rules before uploading the documents. A signature in capital letters will not be accepted.
- In addition to this, you have to ensure that your left thumb impression is clearly visible and is not smudged.
Step 3: Fill the detailed application form

Step 4: Preview of SBI PO application form
You are given the option to preview the application form you filled in before the final submission. No changes can be made after submission. Here, during this step, you can edit the details entered in the application form. Click on the box that says you agree to the terms and conditions given and you are good to go.
Step 5: SBI PO fee payment
You are now redirected to the payment gateway. The application fee is Rs 750 for general candidates. For minority candidates, the application form is free. The payment can be done using various methods such as Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Internet Banking, UPI, and so on. On successful completion of the transaction, an e-receipt is generated which you should save for future reference. Take a printout of the e-receipt and online application form containing the requisite fee payment details and you are done.
