Counterpoint research published ranking Along with the ten best-selling phones worldwide in the first quarter of 2024. The consulting firm points to a curious trend: increased interest in premium phones, which cost more than $600.
In the market, over the years, when we talk about selling premium mobile phones we inevitably talk about one brand: Apple. It is the absolute queen in this category and, according to last year’s data, more than seven out of every ten phones sold in the high-end iPhone.
Counterpoint data shows zero surprises: The list is almost the same as last year, with a few differences. In the first quarter of 2023, the best-selling model in the world was the iPhone 14, the entry model in the Apple family. The second best-selling model was the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Turning the tables in Q1 2024: The world’s best-selling mobile phone is the iPhone 15 Pro Max, followed by the iPhone. The Pro model is in third place. Once again, the top four best-selling phones in the ranking belong to Apple. The iPhone 14 even lurks in the fourth position, a model that is already more than a year old.
The data reflected by the counterpoint regarding Apple’s Pro family is relevant: the Pro line of iPhones accounts for half of total iPhone sales, with 24% growth in this line since 2020.
Until it dropped to fifth place when Samsung appeared with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, a device that is the only real contender for sales in the high-end Android range. It is followed by its greatest rival, Samsung Galaxy A15 5G. This entry-level model is the sixth best-selling model, after the Galaxy A54.
The rest of the list is again occupied by Apple models such as the 15 Plus and Samsung terminals such as the Samsung Galaxy S24. A photograph of ten models with only room for Samsung and Apple.
