We met a couple of months ago Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+. They were Realme’s most sophisticated upper-mid-range phones for this year, but now we’ve met others that, though lower-range, are just as interesting: Realme 12 X, Realme 12 5G and Realme 12+ 5G. the next one Aim to be a bestseller For its quality-price.
At BDtechsupport we have already been able to test them and the Realme 12+ 5G clearly targets the mass public looking for a balanced terminal that is around 300 euros. Our first impressions, in fact, have been positive. Not everything is perfect though, of course.

Good design and good screen
For visual purposes, the Realme 12+ doesn’t differ much from its ‘Pro’ brethren. The manufacturer has once again collaborated with a familiar face in the design of luxury watches such as Olivier Savoie, which is a The terminal is made of vegan leather with straight edges and a back with curved corners. The same back features a zipper design that is really nothing more than an aesthetic decoration, as it doesn’t feel too different from the rest of the surface.
Weighing in at 190 grams it doesn’t exactly fall into the light phone category, but its back material, low thickness, the aforementioned back material and a balanced weight distribution make up for it. Feels very light and comfortable in the hand. Of course, we must warn that the sides are very prone to attract fingerprints, so the cleanest minds will not be able to part with chamois. Or, failing that, they have to put a cover over it.
On the screen, say It offers a fine view from the first glance. This is due to the reduction of bezels on the front, modified only by the camera hole located at the top center and a bottom bezel that is slightly more pronounced than the rest, but nothing dramatic.
I’m used to my high-end smartphones, I notice immediately when I see the screen of a mid-range mobile phone. This did not happen to me with the Realme 12+. And I wouldn’t say I perceived it as high-end, but I didn’t have a bad feeling at all. Fortunately, manufacturers are already implementing increasingly high-quality panels in this range of terminals, which is commendable.
So things are, The panel offers excellent quality for regular use of videos, series and movies. FullHD+ resolution, which is not the highest, already allows you to see everything in good quality, we have deep blacks for the AMOLED panel and a saturated range of colors is not noticeable at all. However, as with any mobile phone, it can be balanced according to our preferences from the settings. And above that 120 Hz which gives a greater sensation of fluidity.
The screen has a very good level of brightness, although its peak appears only when we use HDR content
about brightness, Peak is 2,000 nits and will appear when using HDR content. It’s usually less, although we haven’t been able to verify how much. In fact, we only tested it indoors in low light, where it’s easy to shine (literally). We were left to test the mobile in more critical conditions such as outdoors with the sun shining directly on the screen. Therefore, although we assume it will be good, we cannot yet fully prove it.
As for the sound department, we weren’t able to test it in all the situations we would have liked. We couldn’t appreciate its quality in a quiet room, but we were able to appreciate its volume, for example. Being in a room with a lot of people around, we had to turn the volume up to the max to be able to hear well, and there it delivered with flying colors. Good volume at its peak And without realizing that it is distorted.
The hardware is there, but enough on paper
At the processor level we still need different tests to analyze more in-depth performance. However, we already knew that Dimension 7050 And recently we were able to test it on terminals like the OPPO Reno11 F. On this Realme 12+ and from what we were able to test, it didn’t disappoint us at all.
Combined with Realme’s customization layer, There is a lot of fluidity in managing through the system. Without thoroughly testing applications and games that require a lot of power, the device behaves well with several applications open. Not a single flick and better application opening time.
The materials make it prone to overheating, but Realme has added a cooling system that at least reduces that
Another thing to highlight is the interior of the Realme 12+ housing A vapor refrigeration system Which will help to control the temperature well. This is something very interesting on paper if we consider that due to the synthetic leather materials, eventually these types of devices tend to heat up. In any case, we stress that we haven’t tested as much as we’d like to be sure.
The same thing happened to us while analyzing the battery, which we couldn’t fully discharge and also couldn’t check its charging time. In any case, with the already very standard 5,000 mAh, Autonomy doesn’t seem to be a problem.. It barely dropped by the time we were able to play with mobile, though ultimately it was too early a use to draw conclusions. It is intuitive that, like any smartphone, it reads faster with video games or video recording and taking photos.
Realme confirms that the device will come with a 67W charger in the box
With the 67 watts of charging power it receives, we get a very good fast charge. It hasn’t been the best in years, but it’s by no means bad and by virtue of other terminals we’ve tested with the same pack (5,000 mAh + 67 W), Hope the phone can recharge from 0% to 100% In just one hour. Even a half charge in just a quarter of an hour, at least according to tests conducted by Realme itself.
We have no complaints about the software. Android 15 is just around the corner, but it hasn’t officially arrived on Google phones yet. So the arrival of Android 14 is at least expected and it adheres to its Realme UI 5.0 customization layer. Furthermore, they confirm it There will be three years of supportAll three are with full updates that will include security patches, although the fourth is leaving the terminal without this last possibility.
The camera wants to be the star of the Realme 12+
The camera is the star of the Realme 12+ Sensor main Sony LYT-600, which despite being mid-range has good incentives. It’s a 1/195″ sensor with an f/1.88 aperture and integrated optical stabilization coupled with Realme’s own software.
The other two sensors are more complimentary, although we have a wide angle that, although short on specifications (only 8 megapixels), promises to give the camera more versatility. Ultimately the best thing will be what these sensors are capable of doing together.
Realme is confident that Realme 12+’s photography is its strong point Sharpness in poor lighting conditions. Not so much in low light situations, but in backlighting and other situations where, as a general rule, any camera suffers.
There is a small added detail and that’s it Portrait mode can be accessed using the volume keys. It’s not that it’s a great innovation, but it’s always an interesting addition that makes clear Realme’s commitment to keeping the 12+ in a niche audience that values this kind of photography. The manufacturer highlights the possibility of taking these captures in just 0.8 seconds.
As you can imagine, we didn’t get to test as much as we would have liked. However, we were able to see examples of photographs taken with this Realme 12+ and the truth is that they indicate the ways. Everything is relative of course. We cannot ignore that in the end they are photographs carefully selected by the manufacturer to make it look. In any case, if we look at the details, we can see some flaws characteristic of the mid-range, but nothing serious.
A series poised to succeed, though not without competitors
Those of us who dedicate ourselves to following and analyzing current technology tend to focus more on the competition at the top of the smartphone range, but the truth is Gamma Media It comes chock-full of very similar options. And it’s not just for the Realme 12+, it’s a significant hurdle for anyone looking to launch a model in this price range and specifications.
If we analyze it individually, and without forgetting that in the end it was a first contact, the truth is Realme 12+ has attractive incentives to be a purchase option. Its screen is not license plate, but it seems the best in these ranges and with the promise of more brightness, it looks high on paper, lacking in testing where it really needs to be tested. And it’s been a failing thing for years in the mid-range, so good.
Together, comes the entire Realme 12 series (12X, 12, 12+, 12 Pro and 12 Pro+). Find a mobile for virtually every budget. From 199 euros for the Realme 12X to 499 euros for the Realme 12 Pro+ and even less in each case due to offers and price cuts since their launch. The Realme 12+ is on paper a good middle ground between them all, with a balanced performance that doesn’t account for any major issues, and the cameras are decent.
