What is AI image metadata?
AI image metadata is hidden information stored inside an image file that records how it was made. AI generators can write C2PA Content Credentials, IPTC tags such as trainedAlgorithmicMedia, software names, and even the full text prompt, seed and model into JPG, PNG or WebP files.
How do I remove AI metadata from an image?
Add your JPG, PNG or WebP image to the AI Image Metadata Remover, choose an upscale size and output format, then select Clean & upscale. The tool redraws the pixels into a new file without any metadata and lets you download it, one by one or as a ZIP.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files stay on your device and disappear when you close the page.
Can it remove C2PA / Content Credentials?
Yes. C2PA manifests are stored in JUMBF blocks inside the file. Because the cleaned image is a brand-new file built only from pixels, the C2PA manifest, EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments and PNG text chunks are all left behind. The tool scans the output again to confirm it has zero metadata blocks.
Does this remove invisible AI watermarks?
No. Some generators (for example Google's SynthID) hide a watermark inside the pixels themselves rather than in metadata. Pixel-based watermarks and AI detectors that analyse the image content are not affected by removing metadata.
Is the upscaling AI-based?
It uses multi-step high-quality resampling plus an optional sharpening pass. It makes images larger and smoother, but it does not invent new detail the way a neural upscaler does.

To keep your browser responsive, the output is capped at about 64 megapixels. If a 4x upscale would go beyond that, the tool automatically uses the largest scale that fits.
